A local school is excited to be holding their first School Colour Explosion Run. The event will take place on Friday 20th June 2025, immediately after Sports Day, to raise money for Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and Ysgol Llansantffraid.
Event Organiser, Sue Jones told the Oswestry Life magazine, “We wish to raise as much money as possible for our school and a charity that is very close to my heart. The Lingen Davies Cancer Fund gave me, and continuously are giving many other local people the best care, treatment and advice after my cancer diagnosis last year. We are very lucky to have such a fantastic facility available to the residents of Mid Wales and Shropshire.
“This was initially my son and daughter’s idea to raise some money for the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund, as a thank you for looking after me following my Cancer diagnosis last year. It wasn’t just me that it affected, It was my family, and something that we all had to embrace and conquer. I was very lucky to have an amazing network of family and friends around me, to help me through this difficult time. A saying that has stayed with me is sharing is caring, which is so true.
“At present we have over 100 people booked in for the event but I am hoping to get around 150 taking part including children and their families. They will go around a 400m course with the colour and water stations approximately every 75m. The event has been organised to get as many children and their families involved from the school. Each class is eagerly working hard to design and decorate their allocated colour station. I believe it is important for the children to understand and be involved in the event, as we are very lucky to have this facility available to us.
“I spoke to Meinir Morris the Headteacher who has embraced the event with all staff and children involved in some way and are very excited about it.
“On behalf of Ysgol Llansantffraid Colour Explosion Run, I want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our generous event sponsors, Eagles Bistro Llanfyllin, Pivotal Four Crosses, Bryn Vyrnwy Holiday Park, Vyrnwy Caravans Ltd, Llansantffraid Sports Club, CGJ Agricultural Engineering Ltd, Kris & Stacy Parry, H Jones & Son Malcolm Painting and Decorating, Trederwen Caravan Park, E C Ashton Stores, Wynnstay Group, Bryn Tanat Hall & Wellness Spa, all of Llansantffraid”.
Sue added, It’s sure to be a fun day and we will be helping our school and a very worthy charity”.
