Derwen College marked a major milestone on Sunday as students, families, staff, and local dignitaries gathered to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the 2025 graduates.
The celebration took place at the Lion Quays Resort near Oswestry and recognised the dedication, growth, and progress of students as they prepare to take their next steps into the world. The event was filled with joy, pride, and heartfelt moments, honouring the personal and educational journeys of each graduate.
As well as proud families and staff members, Derwen College was honoured to welcome special guests including Shropshire Deputy Lieutenant Gill Hamer, High Sheriff Jane Trowbridge, and Oswestry’s Deputy Mayor Jonathan Upton, who all joined in celebrating the accomplishments of the students.
“It was a truly wonderful day – a celebration of not just achievements, but of potential, resilience, and community,” said a spokesperson for Derwen College. “Our students have worked incredibly hard, and this event recognised their successes and exciting futures.”
Derwen College is renowned for its commitment to supporting young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to gain the skills and confidence they need for independent living and employment.
The graduation event served as both a farewell and a proud acknowledgement of the students’ journey at Derwen – a place where learning goes beyond the classroom, and every student is empowered to thrive.
