The thirteenth Oswestry Community Games, taking place on Sunday 7th June 2026 at Cae Glas Park, are already well underway in their planning and organisation. The event promises another vibrant celebration of community spirit, activity, and inclusion.

This year, organisers are delighted to welcome Nick Beighton, Team GB Paralympian in rowing and bronze medallist in paracanoe at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as Guest of Honour. A former Royal Engineer in the British Army, Nick sustained life-changing injuries in 2009, resulting in the loss of both his legs.

Nick shared his enthusiasm for the event, stating that he is “super excited to be part of the Oswestry Community Games” and is looking forward to everything the day has to offer. He highlighted how staying active and reconnecting with sport helped rebuild his confidence, encouraging others to attend, try new activities, and potentially discover a long-term passion.

Nick’s chosen charity, Climbing Out, supports adults following life-changing injury, illness, or trauma. More information can be found at: https://climbingout.org.uk/

The organisers extend their sincere thanks to Oswestry BID, Oswestry Town Council, Perspective Finance Group, DRE Accountants, Oswestry Sports Forum, and Bunning Gas for their generous financial and practical support. Without these valued partners and sponsors, the Oswestry Community Games would not be possible. Oswestry Life will continue its role as media partner, helping to promote the event and engage the wider community.

James Manford, Event and Community Lead, expressed his appreciation, noting that Oswestry Town Council has once again provided free use of Cae Glas Park. He emphasised that preparations for this year’s Games are now in full swing, with Oswestry BID continuing to offer both sponsorship and marketing expertise to help maximise attendance.

Clubs and organisations that participated in 2025 have been invited to return, and the list of participants is already growing. Any clubs or organisations interested in taking part in the 2026 event are encouraged to get in touch via email at oswestrycommunitygames@gmail.com.
