Following the success of last week’s memorable performance by Sound of the Sirens, Light’s Out Events has extended its thanks to everyone who attended what was widely described as a “cracking night,” featuring an outstanding set from Hannah Wood and Abbe Martin.

The organisation now looks ahead to its next live music event on Sunday 26 April, which will take place at Hermon Chapel, marking a change from its usual Cricket Club venue.

The upcoming concert will feature internationally acclaimed guitarist and songwriter Claude Bourbon. Known for his exceptional fingerpicking technique and genre-defying style, Bourbon delivers a captivating musical experience that blends classical training with a rich variety of global influences.

Born in France in the early 1960s and raised in Switzerland, Bourbon’s music journeys from the blues of the Mississippi Delta to the sounds of the Balkans and the warmth of the Balearic Islands, with touches of flamenco inspired by Paco de Lucía. His playing also reflects the influence of Ritchie Blackmore, Joaquín Rodrigo, J. J. Cale and Johann Sebastian Bach. With remarkable precision and artistry, he creates a unique fusion of blues, jazz, folk, classical and Spanish guitar traditions.

Looking ahead, Light’s Out Events has also secured an exciting line-up for the coming year, including Birdbrother, Cahalen Morrison, and the acclaimed duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.

Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman will perform as part of the Wilfred Owen Festival, which will return in March 2027 and is set to become a bi-annual cultural highlight in Oswestry. The festival will feature a diverse programme including folk and classical music, drama, poetry, and talks.

The organisers have expressed their gratitude to Oswestry Town Council for its funding support, which is helping to make the festival and its varied programme possible.

Further details about upcoming events will be announced in due course.
