Oswestry Makers Market is a vibrant community event that celebrates and supports local creativity and craftsmanship. Showcasing the talents of independent makers, artists, and small businesses, it is more than just a market — it is a hub where creatives can come together, share their work, and grow.
The mission of the market is to nurture new makers by giving them the confidence and skills to take part in markets. Through the free Market Masterclass, essential knowledge and ongoing support are provided via a WhatsApp group.
Beyond market days, the craft group offers a relaxed and welcoming space for like-minded people to connect, create, and share ideas. The group is held on Mondays from 12.30pm–2pm at Oswestry Memorial Hall.
Together, the community is building a supportive environment that champions creativity at every level.
Organiser Maddy Moore shared that she lives with multiple chronic illnesses, which have made traditional full-time work difficult. She turned to crafting as both a creative outlet and a way to give purpose to the long hours spent at home.
As travelling long distances is not always possible for her, she recognised the need for a local makers market that could support creatives within the community. Markets have also played a huge part in her life growing up — her dad was a market trader, so it is very much in her blood. He held a pitch on Bailey Head car park for 10 years before sadly passing away, and his passion for markets has always stayed with her.
The Oswestry Makers Market takes place on the first Saturday of March, June, September, and December.
