56 is an intimate wine bar, small in area but big in personality. Situated on the corner of Leg Street, you will be greeted with a warm welcome, shown to your seats and you can then relax and start by enjoying one of the many wines, beers and spirits available.
Early December ’24, many people in Oswestry were sad to see that 56 would be closing its doors, however for Amie and Rod there was only one solution, buy the business and keep it going! Having been regulars at 56, they knew that it would be a loss to the town, so with no experience they opened the doors on January 10th and hit the ground running!
Folk often say that the relaxed atmosphere at 56 is like ‘having a drink in your friends front room but with better service’. The bar seats 42 over two floors and the newly decorated room upstairs is great for groups up to 16, perfect for private parties and events. If you fancy a more intimate meal then the Naughty Corner is perfect for two!
The kitchen here is tiny and the menu isn’t huge but the food that is whipped up in that little space is delicious! Sharing boards are 56’s speciality, think Grazing Board with an abundance of cheese, meat, pate, fruits, breads and lots of other nibbly bits or a Chicken Tikka Board that was so popular as a special that it had to hit the menu full time! There are also several other options, all worth exploring, you definitely won’t go home hungry!
56 is open Wednesday to Friday nights from 5pm and Saturday from 1pm. They have lots planned over the Summer months so keep an eye on Facebook for these events. One thing is for sure, you will be guaranteed a great night out!
