Students at a specialist college were delighted to receive a donation towards their Summer Prom.

Derwen College, in Gobowen, was presented with £50 worth of vouchers from Stan’s Superstore, to help raise money for the prom, which is one of the highlights of the students’ calendar.

Andrew Faulkes and his father Peter, from Oswestry-based family business Stan’s Superstore, were inspired to give the funds towards the grand occasion after hearing about the pivotal role played by Derwen College’s Learner Voice and Student Union Board who organise the prom.

Sarah Laszlo, Learner Voice Programme Co-ordinator at Derwen College said:

“We are really grateful to Peter and Andrew Faulkes for the kind donation towards our Prom fundraising. The Summer Prom is always a big event in the student calendar and a reward for all the hard work that goes on throughout the year.”

Derwen College has earned a reputation for delivering outstanding provision and has been judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted on three consecutive inspections.

Derwen College has recently been shortlisted for two awards in the national TES FE Awards. The college has been nominated for Specialist Provider of the Year Award and Employer Engagement Award.
