Last night, Larry Lamb appeared at The Holroyd Theatre for a special one-night event organised by Booka, making him the third Gavin & Stacey star to visit Oswestry.
Best known for his roles in Gavin & Stacey and EastEnders, Larry took to the stage to share personal anecdotes, reflect on his decades in the TV and film industry, and offer audiences a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the world of filmmaking. In a warm and generous gesture that set the tone for the evening, he also took time to personally greet and welcome every guest as they entered the auditorium.
The appearance forms part of his UK-wide book tour promoting his debut novel, All Wrapped Up. The tour began in Billericay and ends in Barry Island – a playful nod to the beloved geography of Gavin & Stacey, where Larry’s character Mick Shipman became a national treasure.
At The Holroyd Theatre, Larry brought warmth, wit, and insight to a packed audience of readers, theatre-goers, and long-time fans. After the interview, he made sure there was plenty of time to chat with everyone, sign books, and pose for photos, making the evening feel personal and memorable for all who attended.
All Wrapped Up is a fast-paced, character-driven thriller set during a chaotic film shoot on a politically unstable Caribbean island. It follows Killian Wilde, a battle-hardened first assistant director determined to keep a troubled production on track against impossible odds. Drawing on Larry’s own experiences in film and television, the novel offers a gripping portrayal of the challenges crews face behind the scenes — navigating egos, politics, and even mysterious disappearances.
The event continues Booka’s strong tradition of bringing acclaimed performers to local audiences.
