A collection of abstract landscape artwork will be showcased in Shrewsbury by a local artist network. The Borderland Visual Arts (BVA) network will hold a group show during May at the Gateway Gallery on Chester Street from 5th May – 2nd June 2023.

Emma Sherry, Gateway Gallery Chair, says “We are very excited to host such a high quality body of works from the BVA Artists. The theme is ‘Abstract Landscapes’ which will be a mix of paintings, ceramics and sculptures. The final artwork has been through a thorough selection process by the Gallery Panel who oversee and curate our exhibitions.”

Borderland Visual Arts is a network of artists from Oswestry and the surrounding borderlands. The BVA holds regular exhibitions and open studio events throughout the year – this year, BVA artists are opening their studios for an Arts Trail in and around Oswestry over two weekends in June.

Alison Holt, one of the exhibiting artists says “The BVA are really excited to be showcasing our work in such a beautiful, purpose-built, exhibition space in the heart of Shrewsbury. We are very lucky to have such a varied network of artists all producing artwork of a very high standard”

Emma also says “The Gateway Gallery is a fantastic space for artists to exhibit their work. It is a purpose-built gallery with the aim of supporting local artists. The team running the gallery are all volunteers and we are looking forward to holding some very special, creative, community events in Shrewsbury next year so watch this space!”

The Gateway Gallery has a superb reputation for showcasing contemporary works and is a fantastic space for artists to promote their art in a central location. The gallery is located with the Gateway Centre which is completely accessible and hosts a very good café serving hot and cold food and drinks daily, overlooking the River Severn. The Gallery is open weekdays, 9am-4pm.

The gateway Gallery look forward to welcoming you to the ‘Abstract Landscapes’ exhibition. For those interested in attending the private view on Thursday 4th May, where they will get the opportunity to meet the artists, please RSVP by email to borderlandvisualarts@mail.com .
