It was back to school for Shropshire audiences last week as the Face2Face Performance Academy took to the stage with their latest production, ‘High School Musical’. As well as parents and friends, the audience included local councillors, members of the arts community and MP Daniel Kawczynski, who were there not only to enjoy a fabulous show but also to hear about the Holroyd Community Theatre near Oswestry which once complete, will be the future venue for Face2Face productions.
Set in the grounds of Moreton Hall near Oswestry, the Holroyd Community Theatre is a £1.45 million Arts venue designed to provide a flexible and exciting performance space for artists from across the region. For the young performers from the Face2Face academy who are drawn from schools around North Shropshire and across the border in North Wales and who meet each week at Moreton Hall, this exciting new venue will provide them with a professional performance space on their doorstep and it’s one they look forward to sharing with other local singers, dancers, actors and performers as well as visiting professional groups.
Speaking at Theatre Severn after the closing night of ‘High School Musical’, Face2Face Head Coach and Production Director, Michael Jenkins, commented: “This was by far the best Face2Face production to date and the perfect way to celebrate our second birthday.
“I am so impressed with the students’ professionalism and their high quality performance. Since opening our doors in 2017, Face2Face is extremely well-attended with young people from around the area. The opportunity the Holroyd Community Theatre will bring to perform to our community in the heart of our community is something we are all immensely excited about.”
