Students at Oswestry School are celebrating the best set of GCSE results in recent years with 36% of grades in the top 9-7 grade bracket, an increase of 6% on the previous year’s results. Amongst the star performers were two students who only joined the school in the final year of the GCSE programme yet between them achieved nine grade 9s and four grade 8s. As a non-selective school, Oswestry continues to support students of all abilities, and with 92% of grades within the 9-4 bracket, they anticipate impressive Value Added Data when it is published.
Headmaster of Oswestry School, Peter Middleton, commented: “Congratulations to pupils and teachers alike for this excellent set of results, reflecting the tremendous hard work that has gone into the two year GCSE programme, and I’m delighted that our pupils have been rewarded for their commitment to their studies. Beyond the percentages, it is the individual success stories that are most important, and I am sure that these results will give our students a great confidence boost as they embark upon their exciting next chapter progressing to Sixth Form study from September.”
Founded in 1407, Oswestry School has a long history of nurturing the talents and abilities of students whether those from the local area or those further afield.
