Oswestry Cambrian Rotary have helped support ‘Not Today Seitan’, a café based within the Oswestry Market Hall. They have provided and still provide meals and other support to some of the homeless people and families in Oswestry.

Jessica Wiffen from the café said, “I have many single adults that I top up gas and electric meters when I know they are in trouble. We also provide fresh veg and fish so they can cook meals for a few weeks at a time. Each care package normally costs us in the region of £50-60 each time. I provide £150 out of my wages a month but the rest is via people’s small donations now and again.”

“Things are definitely getting better for these families, but we aren’t out of it yet.

I sometimes get homeless people to the café for a meal which is fine, and I send some food out in a takeaway box for later on, a warm drink and snack.”

If you are able to help the café to help others then please drop a few coins into their donation plate on the counter in the main entrance to the Oswestry Indoor Market.

The Oswestry Cambrian Rotary is ready to welcome men, women or couples of 18+ from the local community who want to be “people of action”.  We would normally meet at The Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry on Thursday evenings at 7.45pm but Covid regulations prevents this at the moment. For more information on what their new style of Rotary has to offer contact Mike Lade on 01691 570917, info@oswestrycambrianrc.co.uk or see www.oswestrycambrianrc.co.uk.
