Locals will remember there used to be a thriving skittles league based at the Social Club at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopedic Hospital until it was closed a number of years ago and demolished to make way for new buildings in the ever expanding complex.

Now the traditional 9-pin game is being revived by Oswestry Cambrian Rotary and is based in the Last Inn at Upper Hengoed. A new portable ally has been constructed to be placed in the newly refurbished function room for play on a Tuesday evening once a month.

We have had games with a number of community groups and organisation’s locally and Cambrian is looking to make skittles a community event in the town. Many pubs had teams before and we are looking to get those teams back again. It’s also a great way for businesses to be represented and for their employees to meet outside of the work place to either play skittles in the team or to support the team from the side lines.

There is a small entry charge on the evening for players as a fund raiser for Cambrian so that they can support other groups and organisations in the town and beyond.

There is food available in the pubs restaurant before the game as well as good beers and wines from the bar.

If anyone is interested in finding out more then please contact Oswestry Cambrian Rotary on www.oswestrycambrianrc.co.uk/skittles.
