Cambrian Rotary and Friends of Rotary spent some time in the Hope House Children’s Hospice’s Snowflake Garden, weeding and generally giving the beds a good tidying up.

Hope House Children’s Hospices are here to make sure that no one faces the death of their child alone.

They support more than 750 local families who are either caring for a terminally ill child, or whose child has died.

It costs £6.5 million every year to run their services and 86% of this is spent on care. Approximately one month’s income comes from statutory sources and for the other 11 months of the year they are dependent on public support.

The Snowflake Garden is used by families when they are staying with their child after they have died in the hospice. The garden is a place of peace and a private area where the parents can take their time with their own thoughts.

President Ron Pugh said, “It’s a privilege to help keep this special garden looking good for those families at a very difficult and sad time”.

Cambrian will be regulars at this wonderful place helping in the gardens.

If you are considering volunteer work in the community then Oswestry Cambrian club is ready to welcome men and women of 18+ from all walks of life in the local community as Rotarians or as Friends of Rotary. We meet informally at The Wynnstay Hotel, Church Street, Oswestry on Thursday evenings. No weekly meals for us, we meet in the bar at 7.30pm to start our meeting at 8.00pm.
