Oswestry Cancer Buddies recently welcomed Willow Hopkins, a wellbeing practitioner from Oswestry, who is funded by the Shrewsbury-based cancer charity Lingen Davies as part of their free-access wellbeing programme.
During her visit, Willow shared a range of techniques designed to help calm and regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and support individuals in managing the intense emotions that can accompany a cancer journey.
Her workshops are aimed at restoring a sense of balance, resilience, and overall wellbeing following periods of stress or trauma.
Willow explained:
“The Soothe session is a six-week workshop focused on calming your nervous system, reducing stress, and handling overwhelming emotions. Participants will learn practical tools such as breathing exercises, grounding techniques, self-compassion, and ways to feel safe and steady.
The Explore series is another six-week programme centred on noticing and understanding your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours without judgement. Through gentle writing prompts and self-expression, you’ll build insight and confidence—no writing experience is needed.
Finally, the Restore workshop is designed to help people regain balance and wellbeing after stress or difficult experiences. It focuses on reconnecting with yourself, with nature, and finding meaningful ways to move through the colder months.”
