Students at Derwen College will be making the final arrangements to their annual Prom thanks to a generous cash boost from DPA architects, in Oswestry.
The £400 donation made by the Oswestry-based firm will be used to pay for a live band and refreshments for the students as they arrive at the Oscars-themed party, which takes place at Derwen College campus in Gobowen.
Every year the Prom is the last big event for students to enjoy before they break up for the summer holidays, or leave college for good. It is their chance to get dressed up, glammed up and party with their friends.
The Prom is a fun event enjoyed by students at the specialist college for young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. A lot of work and planning goes into this event which is organised by the Student Union Board at Derwen College. Every year students choose a theme and this year they will be recreating an evening at the Oscars.
Picking up the donation from DPA were Student Union Board representatives, Ashley Beech, Rachel Pickford and Megan Eayrs.
They said they were very grateful to DPA for their generous donation and are looking forward to seeing all their hard work and planning coming together on Prom day.
Gavin Porritt and Gareth Edwards, directors of DPA said: “DPA are delighted to sponsor the Derwen Prom this year – it is a well-deserved charity and we always enjoy working with the college and meeting the students.”
