A royal party, set to rival the revelry in the capital, will be raising the rafters at Derwen College, near Oswestry.

Celebrations for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day will be held with drinks and desserts at the Gobowen college’s historic Orangery Restaurant on Saturday, 19th May.

From 11am, guests will be served with a glass of Prosecco followed by a live screening of the wedding accompanied by a Trio of Desserts especially created and served by Derwen College’s Hospitality students. The Orangery bar will be open for further refreshments.

Guests at The Orangery will be able to soak up the atmosphere of the grand, national occasion whilst avoiding the Windsor Castle crowds. With a live showing on a big screen, guests will have the equivalent of a front row seat to witness Harry and Meghan tying the knot.

Derwen College Food, Drink & Events Manager Nina Price said that they were excited to bring together customers, old and new, to celebrate the royal wedding together.

She said: “We are providing an alternative party to anyone who would like to join in the celebrations for Harry and Meghan’s big day but who hasn’t received an invitation to Windsor Castle.

“The Orangery Restaurant provides a suitably grand venue and the Trio of Desserts have been devised and finely honed by students for a catering skills competition. With flags, bunting and a party atmosphere, the day promises to be a lot of fun.”

Tickets, priced £10, must be booked in advance at bookings@derwen.ac.uk or telephone 01691 661234.

The wedding service, which begins at midday, sees the Dean of Windsor conducting the service and The Archbishop of Canterbury officiating as the couple make their vows. The music will consist of prestigious choral groups, soloists, and musicians performing well-known hymns and choral works.
