An Oswestry man has turned his love of collecting whisky into a valuable Christmas gift for Hope House Children’s Hospice.

Dr Peter Starbuck, well known academic and retired businessman, collects a dozen different Single Malts throughout the year which he delivers to Hope House each Christmas. The hospice is able to auction them at their annual balls.

Vanessa Thomas, the hospice’s major gifts manager, said the whisky was really appreciated, as was Peter’s insistence that the gift be used to raise essential funds for the hospice.

“At this time of year we do receive many gifts from kind supporters, but what we really need is money to fund the vital respite and terminal care we provide to local children and families. Peter’s gift will enable us to fund more care and that is the greatest gift we can receive.”
