Oswestry Town Council would like to clarify a number of issues relating to works on Church Street following recent reports in the press and on social media.

The Mayor of Oswestry, Councillor Olly Rose said, “We are pleased that, as widely reported, the temporary barriers (HOGS) on Church Street will be removed in the near future and that a scheme will be delivered, which will maintain pedestrian safety and improve the look and feel of Church Street.”

“The £100,000 committed in principle by Oswestry Town Council at its meeting on the 12th of July, was to contribute towards the considerable cost of delivering a permanent solution. This money will not be needed for the reported works, however Oswestry Town Council remains fully committed to working with Shropshire Council and Oswestry BID towards a permanent solution for Church Street.”
