A special community screening exploring the impact of the climate and nature crisis on everyday life in the UK will take place at Trefonen Village Hall on Thursday 8 October.
Local resident Ruth Davies and her 18-year-old son are hosting a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with everyone welcome to attend.
The thought-provoking 50-minute film brings together nine leading UK scientists and experts to present the latest evidence and explain how the changing climate could affect areas including extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living.
Based on the National Emergency Briefing held in Westminster, the film features appearances from naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham, businesswoman Deborah Meaden and a range of voices from across the UK.
Following the screening, attendees will be invited to take part in an open discussion about what the issues raised could mean for the local community and the actions that can be taken locally.
Ruth Davies said: “This is an opportunity for people to come together, learn more about what is happening to the climate and the natural world, and discuss what it could mean for everyday life in our community.
“Everyone is welcome, so people are encouraged to bring a friend, neighbour or family member.”
The event will take place at Trefonen Village Hall, SY10 9DY, on Thursday 8 October from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
Tickets are free, but places are limited and should be booked in advance. Anyone who books and later becomes unable to attend is kindly asked to cancel their place so it can be offered to someone else.
