Those attending local organisation, Connect for Life, were treated to an afternoon of music, games and food in celebration of the Coronation of The King and The Queen Consort.
The event was held in a marquee positioned next to the Gatacre Pavilion on Thursday 4th May, which was adorned with bunting and decorations fit for a king.
To get into the party spirit service users got crafty, creating hand-made Union Jack flags, and decorating with banners and bunting. Celebrating with tea and a banquet of British classics – from coronation chicken sandwiches to Eton Mess and coronation quiche, of course!
The Coronation festivities were a great opportunity for service users to chat about their memories of the Queen’s Coronation when they were all children, the parties their streets held, the food their mothers brought along, the games they all played and the music that they all sang along to during that joyous event.
A spokesperson for Connect for Life said. “We would like to say a special thank you to Oswestry Cambrian Rotary for their help put up the marquee and The Oswestry Men’s Shed for the throne. Both service users and volunteers had a wonderful time.”
Connect for Life is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation located at Gatacre Pavilion, Oswestry, providing support for older people, particularly those with memory loss or dementia where they can “meet others and build connections”, enjoy stimulating activities, in a safe, welcoming, caring environment.
