Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin is appealing for volunteers in Oswestry to support its Dementia Support Group for local people living with dementia and memory difficulties, their families, carers and friends.

Heather Osborne, Chief Executive Officer of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said:’ We are delighted that our Oswestry group will be re-opening in April, following closure due to Covid.

“The group offers a chance to get to know others and share experiences in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, provides support and information to carers and an opportunity to take part in interesting activities.  Age UK staff and volunteers will be on hand to put people at their ease, socialise with clients, serve refreshments and help with activities. Applicants should be able to show empathy and patience and experience of dementia is desirable.”

The Group’s first session will be on Tuesday 5th April from 11am to 1pm at York Fields Sheltered Housing Scheme, Liverpool Road West, Oswestry. and then take place fortnightly from 11am to 1pm.
