Three ladies from an Oswestry law firm renowned for its participation in local sporting events finished the Oswestry 10k run this month with promises of signing up again next year.
Secretary, Kerri Williams, solicitor, Myfanwy Murray and paralegal, Lucy Tucker, all work in the Oswestry offices of GHP Legal, who regularly sponsor Adrenaline Sporting Events.
Out of 980 runners, first time participant, Kerri, finished sixth out of 411 females who entered this year, clocking a time of 44m 11s. Normally a participant in trail and fell races, Kerri decided to enter as the start line was just ten minutes from her front door.
Third time entrant Myfanwy, who took up running after her pony, Rusty, became too old for more than a gentle ‘plod’, tries to run two or three times a week to keep fit, whilst competitive U63 open powerlifter, Lucy, has in the past run semi-professionally and also enjoys hiking.
Each year, GHP Legal partner, Hywel Jones, a keen sportsman and runner, musters up entrants from his firm’s 100 or so staff members. He says:
“The Oswestry 10k run is a great community event that has enjoyed an increased following since restarting after lockdown, and it’s great that our staff can enjoy mixing with colleagues outside of work, in a different environment.”
