Students and staff at Derwen College’s Orangery Restaurant and Garden Café were delighted to receive a maximum five star Food Hygiene Rating in a recent inspection.
Top marks were given to all catering areas in the college including the restaurant and cafe. The score is testament to the high standards of cleanliness, hygienic food handling and food safety adhered to by students and staff working at the college.
Students were pleased to be able to proudly display the ratings stickers at the entrances to the Orangery Restaurant and Garden Café.
Both the Orangery Restaurant and Garden Café offer day-to-day training, support and work experience for the college’s students while serving restaurant quality fare to the public.
The Orangery Restaurant and Garden Café are open daily from 10am-3.30pm. Hospitality and Customers Services students also run The Station Café in Gobowen.
Derwen College has received it fair share of accolades. The college has earned a reputation for delivering outstanding provision and has been judged ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted on three consecutive inspections. Derwen College has recently been shortlisted for two awards in the national TES FE Awards. The college has been nominated for Specialist Provider of the Year Award and Employer Engagement Award.
