A unique afternoon of live music featuring an all-female line-up of local performers will take place at Ebenezer Gallery, Cefn Mawr, on Sunday 5th July from 2pm to 6pm, raising funds for Hope House Children’s Hospices.
The free community event, titled ‘Gals with Guitars’, has been organised by well-known Oswestry musician, singer-songwriter and charity event organiser Jenny Harris-White, also known as La Femme Guitare.
Jenny has brought together a collective of talented female musicians from the local area to perform a varied programme of acoustic music, featuring cover songs, original material, folk, blues, pop, rock and contemporary favourites.
Speaking about the event, Jenny said:
“Apart from our mutual love of music and friendship, we all share a strong desire to support local charities whenever we can — and none more deserving than Hope House.”
The event has also received generous support from Dave Metcalfe of the Holly Bush Inn, Cefn Mawr, who has provided the use of the charming Ebenezer Gallery free of charge.
Performers appearing throughout the afternoon include:
- Jenny Harris-White (La Femme Guitare) – known for her imaginative finger-picking guitar style and mellow acoustic performances.
- Sonya Smith – singer-songwriter performing emotive original songs and contemporary folk and blues-inspired material.
- Sue Box – bringing uplifting acoustic cover songs and a passion for music as therapy and connection.
- Lauren Kynaston – a young acoustic vocalist performing a wide range of popular covers from country to modern pop.
- Teresa Dale – performing romantic and reflective songs, including original compositions and acoustic covers.
- Vicki Jefferys – presenting an eclectic mix of folk, punk, rock and pop classics from the 1960s to the present day.
Organisers hope the event will attract music lovers from across the area for an enjoyable afternoon supporting a vital local charity.
Admission is free, with donations welcomed throughout the event in aid of Hope House.
