The Shropshire Distillery, the family-run craft spirits business based in Ellesmere, North Shropshire, is celebrating a trio of wins at The Gin Guide Spirit Awards – including a prestigious gold medal for its Spring Vodka.
The distillery, run by the Glynn family. Emma, Gareth and Lily – was awarded Gold in the Vodka category for its Spring Vodka, Silver for the Apple & Cherry AFTER NOON Liqueur, and a further Silver in the Vodka Martini category, also using the Spring Vodka.
“We’re absolutely thrilled, three awards from The Gin Guide is a real moment for us. The Spring Vodka is a newer release from our range, and we are so proud it has got the recognition it deserves for its taste, quality and authenticity.”
Emma Glynn, Director & Alchemist, The Shropshire Distillery
About the Awards
The Gin Guide Spirit Awards recognise exceptional quality across spirits categories, judged by a panel of independent industry experts. Entries are assessed blind on appearance, aroma, taste, and finish – making the distillery’s haul of three medals across two spirit styles a significant independent endorsement of its range.
The Winning Products
Spring Vodka – Gold Medal, Vodka Category | Silver Medal, Vodka Martini Category
Spring Vodka is distilled from wheat in the distillery’s copper pot stills, low and slow – a method that draws out exceptional clarity and character. What sets it apart is the water. Unlike the distillery’s gin expressions, which use purified water, Spring Vodka is blended to bottle strength using Wenlock Spring Water, sourced here in Shropshire and naturally filtered through 400-million-year-old Silurian Limestone.
That ancient geology lends the vodka its signature character: a uniquely delicate, clean, and super smooth finish with a slightly sweet flavour that judges clearly found hard to overlook – earning both the top Gold in the Vodka category and a Silver in the Vodka Martini category.
Tasting Notes
Distilled with wheat, then blended with Shropshire’s Wenlock Spring Water – filtered naturally through 400-million-year-old Silurian Limestone – giving a unique, delicately sweet and clean flavour.
Suggested serve: with a citrus slice, premium mixer and good company.
AFTER NOON Apple & Cherry Liqueur – Silver Medal, Liqueur Category
The Silver-medal-winning Apple & Cherry expression is part of the distillery’s celebrated AFTER NOON liqueur range. The heart of the Shropshire Spirit is blended with British red apples and soured cherries, creating a rich, subtly sour, and textural liqueur with a lingering fruity finish.
Versatile enough to serve as a cocktail partner, a digestif over ice, or a long drink with soda or lemonade, it’s a spirit that works as hard as it tastes good.
Tasting Notes
Rich, subtly sour, and textural with a lingering fruity finish.
Our favourite serve: Old Fashioned Twist – over ice with bourbon, a dash of orange bitters and a curl of orange peel.
The Apple & Cherry win follows the release of two further AFTER NOON expressions – Citrus Grey Tea and Cold Brew Coffee – both distillery favourites and already proving popular with visitors and stockists alike.
