Family cycling fun is on the cards for Victor Williamson of Oswestry after scooping the top prize in the Hope House 2018 Summer Raffle.
Mr Williamson is one of 13 lucky winners the Shropshire charity’s annual raffle, which this year raised more than £21,000 to help fund its vital support for terminally ill children and their families.
Mr Williamson was enjoying a day out with his granddaughter Lucy when he got the call from Hope House Lottery Manager Gill Beckwith with news of his £2,000 windfall.
“We were travelling to Llandrindod Wells to hire some bikes for a cycle ride,” he explained.
“We had such a lovely day that I decided to buy two bikes with my winnings so that me and Lucy can do more cycling together. We wouldn’t have been able to do that without the raffle prize money.
“My late wife was a supporter of Hope House and I continued to support after she died, so it has been really nice to come and have a look around and see the wonderful work that is done here.”
The other 2018 Summer Raffle prize winners are: £250 – Mr Boxall, Telford and Mr Notaro, Llandrindod Wells; and £50 – Mr Whitehead, Chester; Mrs Lloyd, Wrexham; Mrs Alden, Ludlow; Mrs Hodge, Telford; Mrs Ferranti, Telford; Mr Davies, Wrexham; Mr Broadbent, Market Drayton; Mrs Chadwick, Chester; Mrs Nicholas, Newport and Mrs Coutts, Gaerwen.
Gill added: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in our Summer Raffle and helped us to raise more than £21,000 towards ensuring that no one faces the death of a child alone.
“You can also win up to £1,000 every week by playing our Lottery, which ensures we can be there for every child, mum, dad, sister and brother now and in the future. Please visit hopehouselottery.org.uk or call 01691 672610 to find out more.”
