A morning of hedgehogs and an afternoon of storytelling are on offer at a local organic farm next weekend.
Babbinswood Farm, near Whittington, Oswestry will be hosting a Hedgehog Awareness session from 10.30am to 1.30pm on Saturday (August 23). Later in the day volunteers will be sharing stories inspired by nature and its creatures in a session from 2pm to 3.30pm.
The morning hedgehog workshop will feature advice on how to protect hedgehogs and their habitats and guidance on how to support the dwindling hedgehog population. The event is free and places can be booked via the website at Events at the Farm
The afternoon story telling session is suitable for children aged four and over. It aims to bring the magical world of nature to life in a cosy afternoon on the farm.
Families are asked to bring chairs, blankets and pillows plus suitable footwear for a mini farm adventure. Refreshments will be available at the farm shop.
Both events are free but donations can be made to the Babbinswood Farm Community Benefit Society which is heading a campaign to save part of the farm from being sold on the open market.
Fund raisers have so far raised £110,000 in their campaign and brought in almost 600 CBC members who all want to safeguard the farm’s organic pastures and expand its community initiatives.
Further information on the fund raising and community shares is available on the website www.babbinswoodfarmcbs.org.uk or by emailing future@babbinswoodfarmcbs.org.uk.
