Traitors winner Rachel Duffy has joined the team behind care home comedy drama Henry House, following an April Fools announcement that turned out to be true.
The project, developed by Oswestry-based production company Rocking Horse Media, initially shared the news as part of its annual April Fools tradition; something that has gained a following in recent years, including when Oswestry Life even got involved in last year’s entry.
However, this time, the post formed part of what the team have described as a “Double Bluff” – a deliberately playful announcement designed to appear fictional after years of previous fake April Fools announcements by the local firm, before being revealed as entirely genuine.
Rachel, who won the latest series of The Traitors, is now involved with the project in a story consultancy capacity, bringing a deeply personal connection to its themes.
She said:
“I’m really excited to be involved with Henry House. It’s a project that feels incredibly close to home for me, and being able to contribute to something that reflects the realities of dementia with honesty and care is really important.
It’s the kind of show I wish I’d seen on TV when my own family were going through something similar, so being able to contribute to that now feels really special.”
Henry House is a care home-based comedy drama filmed locally, exploring later life, community, and lived experience, with a particular sensitivity toward dementia and its impact on individuals and families.
Creator of Henry House and founder of Rocking Horse Media, Gareth Owain David Thomas, said the idea to incorporate the announcement into April Fools had been quietly building behind the scenes.
“We’ve got a bit of a reputation for April Fools over the past few years. And we had been talking to Rachel and her team for a while anyway when we realised we might be able to get it over the line for April Fools. It was just too good an opportunity to miss. But it’s incredibly surreal to see it all come together in the way that it has and the reaction to the Double Bluff and Rachel’s involvement has been nothing short of mind-blowing.”
The record-breaking response to the announcement has marked a significant moment for the project, which continues to develop following the filming of its pilot.
Gareth added:
“The keyword for any long term development project like Henry House is always momentum. And when you’re now two years on from filming your pilot, as we are, that’s a long time to expect people to continue to believe in something when no one knows what the future looks like. But to be where we are now, in 2026, and have the momentum for the show not only still be alive and well, but actually be more heightened than ever, I think that’s as big an achievement as any and we have Rachel Duffy to thank for that. We’ve got ourselves in a great position.”
With this latest development, Henry House continues to build more momentum than ever before. Just now with a viral Traitors winner coming along for the ride.
