An Oswestry production company has dramatically pulled out of a potentially lucrative deal with one of the biggest streaming platforms in the world. The negotiations would have seen the company’s locally produced TV pilot commissioned for at least one full series. 

 

Allegedly, negotiations broke down because the deal would have seen Henry House, a care home based comedy drama, produced by the same streamer as recent “one-shot” drama, Adolescence; something the Henry House creator, Gareth Owain David Thomas  was completely against. 

“The idea that we could sell our show to a platform that thinks it’s okay to shoot their best shows in one take just turns my stomach,” explained the Writer/Director/Producer/Background Artist For Two Scenes When They Couldn’t Find Anyone Else, who is known for doing more takes than is strictly necessary, “If we haven’t done 30 takes for every close up, then it’s just not Henry House. That’s what makes us who we are. What happened to ‘One More For Safety?’ It’s like nobody even cares.”

 

But we spoke to several other senior members of the production who think differently, including the DoP on the project who wishes to remain anonymous, “Absolutely outraged! Can’t believe Gareth still doesn’t have faith in me to pull off the one shot. After all those long hours on Henry House, adjusting angles by millimetres to keep him happy. We’ve already done a one shot scene, a full episode would be a doddle. Granted, it ended up being three shots, but that’s beside the point. Me and the crew are more than capable! And yet, here we are, back at square one. What a joke!” 

“I just feel really let down by Gareth because he constantly says how he is a top skilled professional yet he doesn’t even back himself or his actors to be able to film it one shot,” lamented one Executive Producer, who could have been described as Wild when we spoke to him. 

And a member of Gareth’s own cast even expressed her own disappointment at his lack of faith in the team’s ability to rise to this exciting challenge, “Just because Gareth can’t manage a one shot show…( one more for safety…more like 10 more for safety) doesn’t mean we can’t. Just means lots of rehearsal and we can do it!  Sometimes that first shot is the best shot. I think he’s selling us short!”

We took these comments to Gareth himself, who simply said, “I would suggest that anyone who is offended by this news first completes adolescence. Grow up!” 

We’d be tempted to agree. After all, it is April Fools…
