Severn Hospice’s Oswestry shop is appealing for volunteers to help raise vital funds to support people living with incurable illness.

More than 800 volunteers work in 27 award-winning shops funding more than a £1 million towards comforting care and emotional support to thousands of families every year.

Various volunteer opportunities are available at the shop in English Walls from sorting stock, customer service, working on the tills, window dressing or helping run the busy shop.

Dawn Felton, Severn Hospice volunteer coordinator, said there is likely to be a volunteer role suited for everyone – regardless of age, background, motivation or experience.

She said: “If you’ve got creative flair, like working with people, want to get into retail or simply gain work experience, we can provide full training and even help you work towards gaining an NVQ.

“Volunteering with us is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and is very rewarding for everyone who takes part.

“Our volunteers range from school leavers, parents and those in retirement to others who have a few hours free and want to give back to the community.

“We are so grateful to our volunteers for their dedication; without them we simply couldn’t provide the vital care to local families that we do.”

The Oswestry shop needs volunteers to help between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
