Staff from the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries (MCSI) at the Robert Jones & Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital (RJAH) kitted themselves out in pink to show their gratitude for the Trust’s League of Friends.
As a way of saying thank you for all the support the League of Friends provide, especially during this period of time where charities are struggling, MCSI staff held a League of Friends appreciation day and donned the charity’s signature pink!
Rebecca Warren, MCSI Ward Manager, said: “We are very lucky to have our League of Friends, they have always supported our patients and staff and that continued support has been invaluable during this pandemic. It’s a small token of our appreciation and I’m so proud of all the staff working onsite and at those at home who got involved and kitted themselves out in pink for the day.”
Victoria Sugden, League of Friends Charity Director, said: “It’s well reported that charities are having a difficult time, all of our usual income steams have been hit but our work very much continues.
“The League is known around the hospital for wearing pink and for staff to have a special day for us, at a time like this, is very touching indeed. It’s great to see everyone having a bit of fun with it!
“We are simply in awe of our NHS colleagues and want to carry on supporting them in every way we can.”
Since the pandemic the League of Friends has been providing ongoing support to patients and staff at the RJAH, in ways such as ensuring staff have access to free of charge healthy and nutritious snacks to keep them fuelled and providing wards with Facebook portals so patients can stay in touch with their loved ones while strict visiting restrictions are in place.
