A famous family-owned business, known worldwide for its iconic wall clocks, has donated hundreds of surplus clocks to benefit a £5million cancer appeal run by the region’s primary cancer charity.
Based in Oswestry, a member of the Newgate World team offered Lingen Davies Cancer Support the remainder of its sunflower clock stock to the charity’s £5million appeal to grow cancer services across the region.
The 380 donated Sunflower Jones Wall Clocks will be used to raise life-changing funds and vital awareness of Lingen Davies’ £5million Sunflower Appeal to fund the development of the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital by 2029.
Lingen Davies Cancer Support is selling the sunflower clocks for £10 each, with all proceeds going to the £5million Sunflower Appeal. Find out more at lingendavies.co.uk/product/sunflower-clock.
Katie Ashton, Commercial Director at Newgate World, said: “As a local business, we’re delighted to support the Lingen Davies Sunflower Appeal. We know people whose lives have been touched by the charity’s work, so it’s especially meaningful to be able to contribute in this way. We hope the clocks help raise valuable funds and awareness for this fantastic cause.”
Claire Purcell, Lingen Davies’ Head of Community Fundraising, said: “We’re always looking for ways to raise funds for and awareness of our Sunflower Appeal. Raising £5million alongside our multiple other fundraising targets is no easy task, but it’s made much easier when companies like Newgate reach out to us with generous offers of support.
“This appeal will change so many local lives for the better, with those living across our region set to benefit from the addition of the new Lingen Davies Cancer Centre in Telford. None of us know what’s around the corner which is why it is so important that everyone backs this appeal and helps us make a positive difference for our community.”
Lingen Davies Cancer Support launched the £5million Sunflower Appeal in June 2025 to fund the development of the new Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at The Princess Royal Hospital in Telford which will double chemotherapy capacity by 2029 with the addition of 30 new chemotherapy bays.
Not only will this development bring cancer care closer to home for those with a TF postcode, but it will also free up capacity in the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital meaning people living in north and west Shropshire, and those further afield in Mid Wales, can access the care they need, quicker.
