An Oswestry man has set up his own business as a personal trainer. Luke Smith, 28, who until recently worked for Evolution Gym, has started Imperium Personal Training. Luke is training his private clients at both Evolution Gym and Active8 gym, providing one to one exercise sessions and mixed ability exercise classes.

Luke graduated from Preston University with a (BSc) in Personal Training in 2011. During this time, he worked at Preston North End Football Club as a nutritionist and then with Wigan Warriors rugby team as a strength and conditioning coach.

After a few years working in Australia as a personal trainer, Luke returned home to be closer to his family and set up his own business.

Due to his sports science background, Luke has a broad skill set, with experience in strength and conditioning, rehabilitation, nutrition and working with specific physical and mental health conditions.

“The great thing about my job is I never know who is going to need my help next” says Luke, “it’s so satisfying to see people who don’t believe in themselves, achieve goals they didn’t believe they could physically reach.

“I work with people of all ages, physical capabilities and many with different challenging health issues. Everybody can benefit from a structured health and fitness plan, and that’s what I offer.”

Imperium Personal Training’s 4, 8 and 12-week diet plans, combined with exercise are designed to help clients achieve their health and fitness goals.

Luke hopes to take his passion for health and fitness into local schools later this year, as well as increasing the number and variety of classes he offers and summer bootcamps.

Luke’s classes:

Wednesday, 10.30am at Evolution – circuits for all fitness levels

Tuesday, 6.30pm – 7.30pm, Active8 – HIIT class
