To make the Oswestry Illuminated Tractor Run a more inclusive community event, organisers successfully introduced a Junior Parade last year, held before the main event at the Livestock Market on Shrewsbury Road, Oswestry. The parade will once again take place this year on Saturday 13 December, with entries accepted until 3.00pm.

Children aged up to 10 years are invited to take part on any illuminated ride-on toy, either pedal- or battery-powered. The Junior Parade will take place undercover in one of the market buildings, where Santa will judge the entries and present a toy tractor, kindly donated by the Wynnstay Store in Glovers Meadow, Oswestry, to the winner. All participants will receive a certificate to take home.

To ensure every child can take part, a small number of additional illuminated ride-on toys will be available to borrow on the day.

Entry is available on the day at the market for a £5 cash donation to the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund. Entry forms will be provided at registration.

Publicity Lead Mike Lade explained,

“Our new additions for this year aim to bring even more family fun, starting at 2.00pm. Alongside the Junior Tractor Run, there will be Christmas stalls, a Lucky Dip, gingerbread biscuits, and mince pies. In mid-November, we’ll also launch a Colouring Competition for ages 0–5 and 6–11, with entries sent to Lingen Davies for Santa to judge. Winners will receive prizes presented at the market on the day of the run. Details on downloading the colouring sheet will be announced soon.”

The Oswestry Illuminated Tractor Run, the main event, will set off from the Livestock Market at 5.00pm. Tractors will be mustered by 3.30pm, giving visitors the chance to view up to 100 illuminated tractors and meet local farmers. The 38-mile route travels through Oswestry, Morda, and surrounding towns and villages before returning to the market at approximately 8.15pm. Limited free parking will be available at the market.
