The autumn months are an invitation to take things slow, take stock and turn inwards.  It’s also tempting to snuggle up under the blanket and stay indoors.  But just as nature is telling us to slow down, science tells us we must also keep our bodies and our minds active.  While many of us are feeling the pinch there is somewhere locally where we can reconnect and move without breaking the bank.  Oswestry is lucky to boast a collective of entrepreneurs and businesspeople wanting to invest in the local area.  Open Space Studios is a community interest company doing just that.

It is located on Arthur Street in a building just above the library and offers a meeting place where you can grab a cup of coffee and attend some of the many fitness and dance classes on offer.

Owner Chloe recognises the importance of affordability and people from all walks of life can join the studios and take part in dance, yoga, fitness as well as baby and toddler sessions.  Some classes cost as little as £3.50 a session and some even include a free drink.  There is also a loyalty card clients can obtain, which gives you a free class after 9 sessions.

Chloe said, “We want to encourage people to come and experience the benefits that health and wellness classes can have on your physical and emotional well-being.  Especially in the current climate.”

For this reasons Open space studios is offering a special discount to encourage and welcome newcomers.

“We have a special offer on at the moment when booking online.  Including a 25% off code for newbies by entering TRYSOMETHINGNEW at the checkout.”

People from all backgrounds are catered for there with fitness classes for the over 50s and baby sensory classes that run on Monday and Thursday mornings.   Boy band classes are held on a Wednesday where you can revisit those 90s dance routines from bands such as the Backstreet boys and Five.

The studio is also open on a Saturday running workshops alongside regular classes.  Clients can sign up to Little Bobbins book club as well as a Strictly night and Yoga Nidra session specialising in deep relaxation and yogic sleep.

There really is something for everyone and you will be made welcome, even if you just want to pop by to discuss the classes and offers available over a cuppa.

The studios are also available to rent so if you have a passion for wellness, it might be the ideal space to explore.  A new client at the studio is Willow, who will be offering a Chakra course starting from Wednesday 28 September at 11am.

She says, “I have only lived in Oswestry a short while and one of the most welcoming and fun places to visit is Open Space Studio.  All the session leaders are great at what they do and have good knowledge and make the classes achievable for all levels of fitness.”
