Local Oswestry resident Linda Lade is starting a support group for any local people touched by cancer called Oswestry Cancer Buddies.
At present there is no ‘local’ cancer support this side of Telford so Linda aims to change that in a few weeks’ time!
Linda said, “As a person in remission from breast cancer, I know how important it is to talk to others that have been on their own cancer journey or also going through treatment, to exchange experiences and share knowledge. Not everyone will be able to or indeed, if having treatment, have the strength to travel to Telford for a coffee or a chat. I want to change that by forming a local Oswestry group.”
Linda continued, “The Oswestry support group will be for any type of cancer, hence the chosen purple coloured ribbon which represents general cancers.
We are for those living with the condition, newly diagnosed, in treatment or in remission. Also, for men and women and that includes carers of course.
I’m currently looking for a venue that is in town with easy access and a private area for us all to get together with the first meetup organised for the beginning of March.
.
If anyone would like to come along then please watch our Face book page and the local press nearer the time for details. If anyone would like to chat over a coffee before then – just email or call me.”
