Aside from socially distanced carols on the doorstep last Christmas and their drive-in events at the West Mid Showground, Shropshire Festivals have not held an event in 19 months. That is all set to change this Sunday as they hold their first ever Shropshire Tasty Trail event.
The event will see 600 people embark on an 8 mile walk around the Upton Magna area, with three courses of locally produced food and drink served along the way.
The day has been structured to ensure social distancing is still possible, and walkers benefit from staying in the great outdoors during the entire route.
Shropshire Festivals are calling out for any willing volunteers that can help them man the 8-mile route to stop walkers getting lost and to help run the various stops.
Beth Heath, Shropshire Festivals Director of Fun, said, “We’re really excited to be preparing for a summer of events, but our festivals and events simply couldn’t happen without the kindness and support of our awesome group of volunteers – without them we simply couldn’t hold our events.
“If you are interested in getting some event experience, or simply want to try something new by joining a fun group of people with some of the very unglamorous things that happen behind the scenes, we would love to hear from you! Our festival family are the hardest working, happiest bunch of people we know!”
The award-winning events company are also preparing to spread some happiness through Shrewsbury on July 25, with a ‘Mile of Smiles.’ The free event will have performers dotted through town tasked with making visitors smile to celebrate culture and events being back. This event also requires some willing volunteers to guide visitors through town to the Quarry where there will be a live music stage.
