From its small beginnings, owner Matt Owen built his business around one simple promise: to deliver quality electrical work with honesty, reliability, and pride. In July 2018, the business officially became Matt Owen Electrical Services Ltd, a reflection of both its growing reputation and the increasing demand for its expertise.
Today, the team handles everything from small kitchen or bathroom refurbs and lighting upgrades to large-scale commercial projects for major clients such as Aico, Kronospan, Cupra, and Skoda. Whether it’s fitting a light switch or powering an entire industrial space, every project receives the same attention to detail and commitment to safety that has become the company’s hallmark.

Over the years, Matt has offered five apprenticeships to local residents, giving young people the chance to gain hands-on experience, industry-recognised qualifications, and a career they can be proud of.
“It’s something we’re extremely proud of,” says Matt. “Oswestry has given me and my family so much, so being able to train local apprentices and watch them grow into talented electricians is incredibly rewarding.”
And that community-first attitude extends far beyond the workplace. The company has consistently supported local charities and grassroots sports teams, sponsoring clubs such as Ellesmere, Morda, Weston Rhyn, St Martins, Guilsfield FC, and Nathan Leonard Football Coaching. More recently, Matt Owen Electrical Services carried out the electrical work and sponsorship for the new Ace Padel Club in Weston Rhyn, helping to bring another vibrant facility to the area.
The business has also backed The Movement Centre and proudly sponsored the Oswestry Show, continuing its long-standing partnership with Oswestry Life, running monthly adverts for 8 years!
A Job to Remember
Of all the projects completed over the years, one stands out for Matt: the electric vehicle charger installation at Aico.
“That was my favourite job,” he says. “Aico share the same values we do, supporting local people, local charities, and local business. Even though they’re an international company, they care about the community here in Oswestry. Working with them to deliver a project that supports sustainability and innovation was something I’m really proud of.”
The Aico installation also represents the company’s growing focus on renewable energy and greener technology. As the demand for electric vehicles rises, Matt Owen Electrical Services has been at the forefront of providing EV charger installations, from specifying the right equipment to complete, professional fitting. It’s part of their mission to help Oswestry move towards a cleaner, more energy-efficient future.
