Llwyd Mansion is one of the iconic buildings of Oswestry. In 2023, Oswestry Town Council took the brave decision to purchase the Grade I listed building, bringing it into public ownership for the first time in its history.

Oswestry Town Council is now developing an ambitious project to restore the building and bring it back into use. This will be a lengthy process, as funding is secured and a project developed that will not only restore the building but also return it to the heart of the community.

In 2025, Oswestry Town Council was awarded a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic England. This funding has enabled the removal of hairdressing equipment that remained from the building’s time as Toni and Guy, along with modern partitions, stripping the building back as much as possible to its original shell. This work has allowed a range of surveys to be carried out to help better understand the building and its condition.

This is a vital piece of work, as it will enable the development of a programme of works and a clearer understanding of costs, which will feed into a delivery phase application to The National Lottery Heritage Fund later this year.

Those wishing to find out more are invited to attend an open day on 21 February from 10am. Visitors will be able to view the building, take part in craft activities, view a photography exhibition by Oswestry School and, importantly, share their memories of Llwyd Mansion and their thoughts on proposed end uses.

Anyone wishing to support the project can purchase a range of Llwyd Mansion items for sale at the Guildhall, with all monies raised going directly to the project.
