A local residential care home based in Baschurch is celebrating after achieving their CQC report.  The Old Vicarage based in Baschurch, has received ‘Good’ in all 5 domains of inspection – safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.

The Old Vicarage is part of the Select Healthcare Group which is a family run business that was founded in the 1980’s with just one residential care home at that time in the West Midlands. Over the years the company has expanded to over 30 homes across Shropshire, the West Midlands, North Wales, and Kent. The Baschurch homes which consist of The Old Vicarage, The Coach House & Briery Lodge are the only Select Health care Group homes for adults with learning disabilities in Shropshire. All 3 homes have been rated Good in all domains of inspection.

Director, Brett Bernard said: “Well done Jeannette and your team! Fantastic result”, and Director Sarah McDonald said: “Well done to you all on your inspection report, all the hard work paid off really proud, thank you”.

The home is led by Jeannette Garratt, who has worked for over 20 years for the homes within Baschurch starting as a bank support worker leading up to current position of Registered Manager for all three homes.  Jon “Goody” Goodwin  (Unit Manager of the Old Vicarage) has worked for the company for 9 years ( starting as a senior support worker to Unit Manager) with previous experience of working with Learning Disabilities.

“The staff team have worked hard to achieve this outcome for the service users and the home. All 3 homes work in partnership with multi health professionals to provide the best care possible for each of our service users, which enables them to live life as they wish. All three homes in manage in Baschurch have good rating in all the areas of inspection”.
