The Lyneal Trust is delighted to announce that Chris Symes has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in the recent King’s Birthday Honours List, recognising his outstanding service and dedication to improving accessible holidays and experiences for people with disabilities and vulnerabilities.
Chris has been a committed trustee of the Lyneal Trust for the past 20 years, serving as Chairman for 14 of those years. During this time, he has devoted a significant amount of his time, energy and expertise to developing and improving the Trust’s facilities at Lyneal Wharf, near Ellesmere.
Under his leadership, major improvements have been made to the Trust’s specially adapted holiday and day boats on the Llangollen Canal, as well as the shore-based facilities, including Wharf Cottage and accessible residential accommodation.
Chris continues to play an active role in the day-to-day management and future development of the charity. His dedication has helped the Lyneal Trust provide an increasing number of accessible holidays, day trips and memorable experiences for people of all ages with disabilities, health conditions and other vulnerabilities.
The Trustees, volunteers and supporters of the Lyneal Trust congratulate Chris on this well-deserved honour and thank him for his exceptional commitment and many years of service.
