Having celebrated success at both GCSE and A Level last month, the Marches have begun the 2018-19 academic year in determined fashion.

With over 100 new students moving from studying and completing their GCSE qualifications onto their A Levels in the increasingly popular and reputable Marches Sixth Form, there is a real buzz around the school at present.

The vision of the Marches School is ‘Achievement Through Caring’, which Associate Headteacher Alison Pearson is keen to highlight: “Here at the Marches School, we offer a unique and individual style of teaching and support, which is shown through our school vision ‘achievement through caring’. The results of the students in both sets of examinations were superb and we believe that the personal approach to driving education is the most beneficial for all. The personable approach gives the students the best opportunity moving into Sixth Form as they already have a strong relationship with the teachers, giving them a ‘kick-start’ at A Level”.

With four students scoring straight A* grades at A Level and Finley Hudson being offered a place at the prestigious Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, the Marches Sixth Form is fully focused on educating and fulfilling the ambitions of all of its students.

At GCSE level, with the new, more challenging papers, many students have risen to the challenge and accomplished fantastic results. 22 (12%) of this year’s cohort gained at least 6, 7-9 grades (the old A/A* grades)

Emily Sumner has achieved 7 Grade 9s, with each Grade 9 being the equivalent of an A**, achieved by only the top 2% of the year nationally, which highlights the incredible achievement of gaining 7 across all subjects. 62% of the year group achieved at least a Grade 4 in both Maths and English.

Next Thursday, 20th September, the Marches School will be hosting an Open Evening, which gives students, parents and carers the opportunity to visit the school, view the facilities available, speak to teachers and ask any questions that they may have. The school is also hosting a Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday 24th October where students and parents can visit and view the vast range of courses that there are on offer.
