For talented sportswoman Milly Home, a childhood dream was realised recently as she gains a coveted place in the U19 England Lacrosse Team. Beating fierce competition in a tough selection process of Regional Tournaments and National Academy training, 15 year old Milly will now join seventeen other players to represent her country on the national and international stage.
Milly’s journey and love for Lacrosse began at the age of 11. Her passion and skill have continually developed and for the past three years she has been on the path to national glory. Each year she has seen a dramatic improvement; last year she was selected to play for the B’s, but now she joins the A’s. Her determination and drive has seen her through as she takes her place amongst the country’s top eighteen players.
Hollie Harrington, Moreton Hall sports coach and former World Cup England Lacrosse player, commented: “It’s an amazing achievement for Milly and testament to all her hard work and dedication to the sport. We are all really proud of her!”
As part of the U19 England Team, Milly will play in the annual Home International Tournament where the U19 squad will play against the Senior Regional teams. There is also hope of international success on the horizon, as she may be selected to play for the World Cup in Canada in 2 year’s time. England will compete against top Lacrosse nations such as USA, Canada and Australia.
Milly, unable to contain her excitement, commented: “My end goal is the World Cup, I started playing in year 7 and I have dreamed ever since that I would one day play for England. Now it’s actually happening, it’s incredible.”
