Moreton Hall has marked the beginning of the summer term with the launch of its Moreton Adventure programme, led by newly appointed Head of Adventure Education, Dave Humphreys. Dave is an experienced and qualified leader and coach in a wide range of adventure activities from Paddlesports through to Mountaineering and Mountain biking.

Dave commented: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Head of Adventure Education at Moreton and to have the opportunity to share the passion I have for adventure pursuits with the students here. It will add to the already fantastic opportunities for sport at Moreton.

With the school’s proximity to the Llangollen Canal, Dee Valley, River Severn and the crags and mountains of North Wales Moreton Hall is ideally situated to offer a host of outdoor activities.

Moreton Hall offers a growing evening and weekend paddlesport programme with pupils in Year 7 and Year 8 enjoying taster sessions and older students developing their skills through the progressive pathway offered by the British Canoeing Paddle Awards.

Dave concluded: ”Later in the year, we will commence rock climbing activities at our local crags, moving indoors when the weather dictates to make use of excellent indoor climbing walls in Broughton and Shrewsbury.”

Weekend paddling, climbing and mountaineering trips to North Wales are planned for the Autumn offering pupils the opportunity to develop higher level skills in areas of particular interest.
