Moreton Hall were delighted to host guest speaker, Sir Ian Cheshire, for their annual Business Lunch. As a true industry shaper and trailblazer in sustainable retail and innovation, Sir Ian shared his insights on artificial intelligence and how it can be utilised in a way that positively impacts businesses. Sir Ian Cheshire also spoke about the importance of leadership culture, emphasising how effective leadership goes beyond strategy and structure to foster a values-driven environment that inspires trust, accountability, and long-term performance. Sir Ian also welcomed a plethora of questions from the floor, ranging from political context to graduate programmes and employability. The ever-popular annual event once again attracted a strong turnout of business leaders, Old Moretonian Alumnae and the local community, affirming its continued appeal.
Sir Ian Cheshire has achievements that are recognised internationally, such as being honoured as a Chevalier of the Ordre National du Mérite. In 2014, he was knighted for his contributions to business and sustainability. Sir Ian is currently the Chairman of two large organisations – Land Securities and Spire Healthcare.
Attendees also heard from Moreton Enterprises, Moreton Hall’s Sixth Form led in-house business, with an impressive annual turnover averaging £32,000.
Sanya (Lower Sixth) who is Moreton Enterprises’ Assistant Director, said “The Business Lunch was such an incredible experience. Sir Ian Cheshire was not only highly knowledgeable and an expert in his field, but also engaging and approachable. It was such a privilege to be able to attend this event and meet with him personally, as well as other accomplished entrepreneurs.”
“I really enjoyed this year’s Business Lunch. Having the opportunity to meet and chat with so many brilliant business leaders and entrepreneurs was truly inspiring,” said Upper Sixth student Lauren, Moreton Enterprises’ Environmental Officer. “I saw how many different routes a career in business can take. Sir Ian Cheshire’s talk on current challenges and the future of business was both insightful and informative. With the business landscape changing so rapidly, it was encouraging to hear how he has adapted—and how we, as the next generation, can grow and develop too.”
