Moreton Hall’s leading role in delivering a range of community Creative Arts projects to young people from across the region was celebrated this weekend at a glittering ceremony in London.
The TES awards are the education Oscars and the opportunity to showcase the arts provision which has seen school children from across North Shropshire and the Welsh borders have opportunities to experience the joys of Art, Music and Drama was welcomed by the many specialist teachers who have been involved with the projects. It was also a wonderful accolade for all the young people who have engaged in the classroom and beyond.
The shortlist nomination was for ‘whole school community initiative’ and recognised Moreton Hall’s work with local primary and secondary schools around the area. It was also a tribute to the work of North Shropshire Music, the North Shropshire ‘Big Sing’, and the Face2Face Performance Academy, all of whom will be making full use of the Holroyd Community Theatre which is currently under construction in the grounds of Moreton Hall.
Although the school didn’t win on the night, according to Vice-Principal Carolyn Tilley who represented Moreton Hall at the awards, “To be shortlisted with some of the country’s leading schools, many of them in the South of England, was a real testament to the long- established links between Moreton Hall and its local community. The Holroyd Community Theatre will play a vital part in continuing to foster these exciting Creative Arts opportunities for our young people and as a school, we are very excited that Moreton Hall is a part of this.”
