A £5,000 grant from Oswestry Town Council has helped local couple Amber and Jolyon Iles open The Beech Tree coffee shop in Oswestry.

The Breathing New Life into Empty Properties Grant is one of the many ways the council is supporting businesses and rejuvenating the town. For Amber and Jolyon, the grant has been a huge help.

The food and coffee loving duo are well known locally. After a trip to Naples where they fell in love with Neapolitan pizza, they began their pizza making journey in Oswestry in 2012.

They earnt their stripes with a mobile pizza van to rave reviews, before opening their first restaurant in 2021, Amber’s Pizza Co restaurant in Beatrice Street. They have worked hard and are proud to have now opened a sister site at 2 Albion Hill.

The Beech Tree is a cosy, welcoming coffee shop serving freshly brewed coffees, brunches, lunches and sweet treats. Everything is locally sourced as much as possible.

Amber said: “We have been blown away from the love and support we have had from the community. Getting the grant from the town council has been a real boost to us, we are very thankful.”

The Mayor of Oswestry Cllr Mike Isherwood said: “What a welcome addition to Oswestry. It is wonderful to see this beautiful building in the heart of town brought back to life. We wish them the very best in their latest family venture.”

The Beech Tree is open Tuesday to Saturday 8.30am-3.30pm and Sunday 10am-2.30pm.
