Niche Patisserie’s heart beats within The Black Gate, a stunning building dating back to 1621. As the business celebrates its fifth anniversary, it’s clear that Niche is going from strength to strength. Wholesale now accounts for an impressive 70% of the business, with their products reaching an ever-expanding customer base across the UK — from London to parts of Devon, and throughout Shropshire, Cheshire, and North Wales. Despite this national reach, the Oswestry bakery shop remains a cherished local institution, drawing daily queues of loyal customers.

Niche is also home to the Afternoon Tea Experience, hosted on selected Saturdays and Sundays, which has quickly gained a reputation as one of the finest in the country — even outshining high-end offerings in the London scene. Guests are treated to an elegant array of patisserie, savouries, and teas, all crafted with the same attention to detail that defines the Niche brand.

At the helm of the business is Adam, a chef and pastry specialist with a remarkable pedigree. His career includes working alongside acclaimed chef Michael Caines MBE in both Devon and North Wales. In 2019, Adam led his own team at the prestigious Pale Hall, before becoming a semi-finalist on Bake Off: The Professionals — a testament to his skill, vision, and creative flair.

Today, Adam’s passion goes beyond baking. He is committed to mentoring the next generation of pastry chefs, regularly welcoming students from surrounding counties who come to learn, train, and gain real-world experience under his guidance.

Recognition has followed naturally. Niche has received Great Taste Award acclaim for their indulgent Hazelnut Fudge, a customer favourite. Their outstanding service has also been acknowledged, with the team becoming finalists in the Shropshire Chamber of Commerce Awards and winning Customer Care through Oswestry Life Magazine.
