North Shropshire College (NSC) recently made a donation to the not for profit social enterprise CHALK CIC, funded by proceeds from their staff Christmas Meal. A dedicated team of organisers put together a Christmas Raffle, and a Quiz was organised by Tony Evans, Receptionist and Invigilator at the College.
CHALK, based in Leg Street, Oswestry, stocks re-upholstered and upcycled furniture as well as collectables, textiles, and gifts, and relies on a network of dedicated volunteers to run social projects to help tackle isolation and poverty. The organisation also works in partnership with the printing, coatings and finishing’s company Liquid Paint Factory, as well as the Hermon Chapel Arts Centre based on Chapel Street in Oswestry. The final total donated from both of the College events was £220.
Vicky Brayne, Quality Officer at NSC (pictured left) commented, “We are delighted to be supporting such a great cause. It is great to give something back to the community which has shown great support for the College, and we hope that our donation will help Chalk to continue with its fabulous work in the town and surrounding areas, supporting those less fortunate over the festive period. ”
